As a landscape designer and RHS plantsman Ross is fully qualified and experienced in all aspects of landscaping (City and Guilds). We first survey the garden, this involves taking soil samples for analysis, making a sun map as well taking measurements and drawing up a rough plan of the garden. At this time we will take note of what existing plants are thriving and which ones are not quite doing so well, this is a good indicator of what species will do better than others.
The next stage is to get a feel of what style of garden the client is looking for ie formal or slightly more wild. What colours they prefer and what they are personally looking to get out of the space. We achieve this by constructing a mood board together, full of images of plants and structures they like the look of. From this information and a narrowed down list of the right plants we then carry out the first draft of the design in a computer generated 3D design, collating the approximate material quantities and planting prices as well as labour costs all in one easy to understand package. This plan is provided for a fee that is refunded on signing off of the works to be done.
